This CD compiles, for the first time ever, the complete Stan Getz and J.J. Johnson at the Opera House 1957 album, including all of the tracks recorded at L.A.'s Shrine Auditorium with the same personnel a week later.

While legends such as Billie Holiday and Count Basie made their greatest impact with visceral, blues-soaked statements, Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington succeeded by lending their work unmatched grace and precision.

This 2009 release contains the complete classic album Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster as well as the other six tunes from the sessions, originally issued on other Hawkins' albums and long out of print anthologies. As a bonus, we have added four songs from sessions recorded on both the previous and the same day by each saxophonist alone with the same rhythm section.

A complete performance by the great Ben Webster backed by the Oscar Peterson Trio with NHOP Recorded a few months before the saxophonist's death, this is the last existing testimony of Ben and Oscar playing together.

Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Jazz great on one disc: Anita Sings For Oscar and Pick Yourself Up. Anita Sings For Oscar was also issued under the title Anita Sings The Most and was the only album on which Anita O'Day is backed by Oscar Peterson.
